As I told everyone, the point of this was not to 'educate' you about global warming - I'll let you make up your own minds about the situation and what you can do about it.
The point was to increase your awareness of an important, widely-discussed issue; to expand your vocabulary; and to introduce some of the climatic changes which have taken place in The Drowned World. I think those aims were achieved.
From what you wrote in the mid-terms, it seems that some people don't think there's much that they can do, being just one person (though that could be because there might be some effort involved...)
To be honest, some of the consequences sound pretty spectacular - if it's going to happen anyway then I'd rather it happened while I'm around to see it.
The main things you should have taken from the text and the video are:
the vocabulary used to discuss environmental phenomena and the various aspects of climate change (which you'll be hearing more and more often as the seriousness of the situation increases)
and the techniques used by Al Gore to communicate effectively with the audience, most of which you should remember from last year's recital contest, right?
